An illustration is a picture—it portrays a recognizable image or communicates an idea to the viewer. The image is combined with text, or accompanies an article or story.

I do illustrations using both computer software and traditional hand methods in mixed media.

COMPUTER ILLUSTRATION programs employ instructions from a mouse or graphics pad to produce a digital image, a vector file. Files of
this type are easily edited and resized with no
loss of quality. They can be converted to pixel images for webpages, like the one at left.

HAND ILLUSTRATION uses traditional rendering methods—pen and ink, pencil, paint, pastel, even collage, quilting, and sculpture. The piece can be converted to a printable file or a web image by scanning it; original artwork can be framed.

PRICES for illustration depend upon the complexity of the artwork.
